This large Cathedral fig tree also known as a curtain fig reaches high into the rainforest canopy. The twisting intertwined roots support an entire ecosystem of animals. The towering grace of this giant is hard to capture in an image and I spend most of my time just looking up and saying wow when i am in its presence. This particular tree is hollow on the inside where the host tree has all but disappeared leaving a large space you can walk in. Known locally as the Clohsey river fig tree it can be found in the wet tropics rainforest of North Queensland near Kuranda
