What is Fine Art Photography?
Fine art photography refers to images that are created in accordance with the creative vision of the photographer as artist. Fine art photography stands in contrast to photojournalism, which provides visual support for stories. With fine art photography it is not necessary to depict reality as it is but interpret it as an artist. The term fine art photography does not have any one definition and allows the artist total freedom to use their imagination and multiple creative techniques. As photography evolves so to does our idea of fine art photography.
What is Organic Photo-Montage?
Montage is an art form which consists of putting together or assembling various smaller pictures to create a larger work; an artistic composite; To combine or depict into a montage.Photo-montage is the merging of multiple images, textures and other organic matter in a seamless photographic collage.
“Organic Photo Montage” is how I describe my style of creating images. It is a form of fine art photography which has taken me many years to develop and it continues to evolve in an exciting progressive way.Every artwork is unique and many ideas are explored as traditional fine art skills (film) are merged with modern technology (digital) in a fluid, dynamic way.
What are Open Editions?
An open edition is a series of prints that do not have assigned numbers and are not limited in print run numbers. They are often hand signed by artists but do not have the same collectable value attached.
What are Limited Editions?
A limited edition is restricted in the number of copies available in that medium and format, which gives them their value and exclusivity. Because the number of prints released and in circulation are limited they make them highly collectable in the artworld. A limited edition is normally hand signed and numbered by the artist, typically in pencil, in the form (eg): 14/100. The first number is the number of the print itself. The second number is the number of overall prints the artist will print of that image. A small number of “artists’ proofs” may also be produced as well, signed and with “AP”, “proof” etc.
What is a Registered certificate of Authenticity?
All Limited Editions come with registered certificates of authenticity.
This is a certificate with the details of the artwork purchased. It includes the title, edition number, size, date of purchase, location and your name. Signed by the artist with an embossed seal. All details are documented in a registry to validate ownership and provenance. It helps validate the Authenticity of the artwork and also shows when and where you acquired it from the artist.
What are Exclusive Editions?
These artworks are released as very limited editions. (sometimes only one is available for purchase). This makes them very exclusive and a distinguished investment opportunity. Archival museum quality is guaranteed. Each artwork comes with a registered certificate of authenticity & legal document.
Exclusive Gallery Edition (limited edition of 10)
The Exclusive Collection is restricted to a very small number of large prints & is available from a couple of select Galleries. Because the number of archival prints released and in circulation are limited to 10 this makes them highly collectable in the art world. The limited edition prints are produced using the highest museum (archival) quality printing processes available to ensure the image does not fade or deteriorate. This guarantees your collectable art investment lasts when kept in the right conditions. Every image is registered and custom certificates are provided with all Exclusive Gallery Edition purchases.
Very Exclusive (Limited Edition of 3)
Your Exclusive Original Fine Art Print is one of two prints available and the artist reserves the right to keep one. There will be only two “Limited Edition Prints” of the artwork available and is a very exclusive offer for people who love and collect fine art. The Artist also retains the right to display a small version of the image on website, in publications and sell as art cards / merchandising.
Limited Editions Policy
The Limited Edition Collection is restricted to a small number of prints reproduced in a high quality medium & format, which gives them their value. Because the number of archival prints released and in circulation are limited this makes them collectable in the art world. I choose to keep the limited editions under 120 prints, often going as low as 50 or 25 in an edition. The limited edition prints are produced using the highest museum (archival) quality printing processes available to ensure the image does not fade or deteriorate. This helps ensure your collectable art investment lasts when kept in the right conditions. Every image is registered and certificates are provided with all limited editions.
The artist guarantees an image is only released once as a high quality collectable limited edition, However, images from a limited edition may be reproduced in a different format as artcards or on fabric. They my also be used in other forms of merchandising which, include publications, interior design & for educational purposes.
All limited editions on fine art paper printed after September 2010 have an embossed seal in the left-hand corner of the print. This seal matches the embossed colour stamp on the certificates of Authenticity.
Change of Fine Art Paper
Since 2017 the artist uses a fine art paper by Moab called Estrada 290gsm. Limited editions printed from September 2010 to July 2017 were printed on William Turner 310 gsm by (Hahnemuhle). Previous to September 2010 they were reproduced on German Etching Water-color paper (Hahnemuhle) 310 gsm.
